An Amish Friendship

Living in the Plain community was an absolute joy. In the spring and summer, there were parties and get-togethers in the town square. Young love was in the air and many weddings were conducted. In the fall was the harvest time, where the community would come together as always and help everyone to make sure nothing was left unharvested. Much of what was made and harvested was sold on market days to Englishers passing through from one big city to another. What wasn't sold was saved and stored for the community and for each respective family to help them through the harsh winter. Being in the northeastern part of the country made each winter unpredictable, but they always made their way through it and began to prepare for as many contingencies as possible. 
No one could prepare for the contingency of what was about to come upon them.
