Approved by the Environment Protection Agency is a sensitive exploration of the unfamiliar landscapes that a Central European teenager, in an age of anxiety, encounters. From the almost post-apocalyptic title story's social realistic scenes, through the absurd decay present in the house of "Auntie Juci vs Bentham," to the Beckett-like ruins of a very average Hungarian house party in "Indoors Balcony," these short stories glimpse into a universal, and at the same time unique 21st-century experience of life on the borders of childhood and adulthood, East and West.
