Arab, Muslim Travelers And The West

This book is the third and final part of a trilogy that I authored covering Arab, Muslim travels from pre-Islamic times to the twentieth century. Along with examining the lives and works of selected travelers to the West particularly to England and France the book defines and traces the changing attitudes towards the West from colonial times to post independence. The travelers' diverse positive and negative attitudes towards Western civilizations do not only express popular sentiments of their times but continue to inform similar attitudes still prevalent among travelers, intellectuals and influential figures as well as the general Arab, Muslim public.
