As the title suggests, this book really is an almanac for insomniacs! I guess that most people have never ever thought about memorizing pi (i.e. 3.14159 etc.), and for those that have (and there are quite a few apparently), the prospect of achieving this to a significant number of places would have been deemed virtually impossible. However, this book demonstrates a simple method that should enable most people to be able to memorize pi to 1000 places. Just think of the bets you could win with friends, as you demonstrate your incredible memory skills! On a more serious note, the methods that can be learned from this book, can then be applied to more useful situations such as remembering birthdays and phone numbers.
