Publisher Description

Sir Edmund Gosse (Sep 21, 1849 — May 16, 1928) was an English translator, literary historian, and critic. He is mostly known for his autobiographical work Father and Son, about his troubled relationship with his Plymouth Brethren father, Philip. Gosse's narrative is often at odds with the verifiable facts of his own and his parents' lives. Gosse was also closely tied to figures such as Algernon Charles Swinburne, John Addington Symonds, and André Gide.
Aspects and Impressions is a collection essays by Sir Edmond Gosse. The main subjects of those works are Gosse’s fellow writers from other times and places. All of them are united by the fact of leaving a strong impression on Gosse and influencing greatly writings of his. Along with that, the author shares some of his thoughts of literature in general and on some other subjects, somehow related to that. An interesting reading and a great portion of food for thought for every lover of literature.
