"The Necromancers" by Robert Hugh Benson is a great example of a horror novel of its time. Following the death of his fiancée, Laurie Baxter becomes consumed by an obsession with the supernatural. Instead of reconnecting with his lost love, the protagonist is brought into contact with more sinister forces.
