Rochester Trilogy
Sometimes books are better as a bundle. This is one that is. While the characters are believable and progress and grow through each book the culmination was much less than I hoped for. Beau, the only surviving brother moves back from his “billion dollar” job to be guardian for his niece~ maybe daughter! Yes the brothers competed for everything and even though we never meet Rhys because he was killed he has a stronger presence than the female ~ Jane. As we learn more about volatile Rhys and his also dead wife Ellen…the surprises and the hot sexy scenes keep you totally engrossed. Except…Ellen is not dead. Beau is a very troubled, guilt ridden brother who slept with Ellen once but cannot stop blaming himself as we learn Rhys was abusive to Ellen. This is where the story veers off of what it could have been and goes placidly to the end. Ellen saw her brother shoot her husband so she hid in fear of her brother all these years…yet she shows up with a gun to Jane’s to beg for help to get her brother arrested so she can come back and claim her daughter. While her brother Joe, is a creep it would have been much more dramatic had Ellen killed Rhys and Joe been the witness! It just made no sense. She saw him murder Rhys and jumped into the ocean so she could disappear…but 1) she hates swimming 2) she hides in the same town 3) where did she get the gun. As you can see all my focus is on Rhys and the murders not on Beau and Jane. Jane is boring but Beau adds the spice as the older man who hires her as the Nanny to his niece…who is in the end just his niece not daughter. The twist, the build up was not there…I kept thinking for sure Ellen killed him. But no she just comes back gets her daughter and lives happily ever after. Beau does become a dad which is the highlight of the whole ending. The book has to make sense. Maybe it will for you. Book 1 is a great cliffhanger!
You can’t stop reading
All the reviews I read are true … you can’t put the book down! You’ll fall in love with the characters.
Eh
I’d save your money and not go through the trouble of buying the second and third book
