Bestseller Crownover begins her Welcome to the Point series with bad boy Shane "Bax" Baxter, a violent ex-con who's so self-obsessed that he has his own name tattooed across his back, and good girl Dovie Pryce, a quasi-virgin who ticks every box in the romance heroine checklist down to her red hair and green eyes. Crownover has a strong voice, and the minor characters, like damaged, machete-carrying military veteran Lester, are well-drawn. But though the dialogue is snappy, the two narrators are so wooden it's hard to imagine them speaking those clever words. Bax has no emotional arc other than becoming monogamous. Additionally, his assault-like kisses and dubiously consensual sex with Dovie make their relationship difficult to root for. Crownover may be aiming for gritty, but it just leaves the reader feeling grubby.

Wow!!! Bax and Dovie's story is something else, really Bax just became my favourite bad boy. Jay did an amazing job with this book.
If you like bad boys, like really, really bad boys and a great female character this book is for you.

This story contains someone who admits to being all bad, to bringing bad into the lives of others. He’s gorgeous, sexy and extremely dangerous, approach with caution because he’ll steal your heart and not let it go.
Bax’s brings you into his world the Point where life is hard, cruel, full of illegal dealings and the Criminals rule. Just released from prisoner he is on a mission to find out who set him up and to deal with the the man at the top.
On his journey to get answers Bax comes across the unexpected sister of his best friend and she changes his life forever.
Both have had a hard cruel life, can they survive the answers Bax is seeking? What will need to be sacrificed?
Jay Crownover weaves this poignant story that captured my attention from the first chapter to the last word. But I am greedy and want more of the Point, more of the story can’t wait to read about Race.
Totally hooked
I have read most of Jay's books and love the,. I wasn't sure going into this one if I could deal with all of the bad, but the characters were so good. We can't judge others peoples lives because we don't know what their life has been like and this sends that message clearly. I didn't want to put it down, loved it.
