More people travel through LAX airport in an afternoon than are permitted into Bhutan in a year. We were able to travel from east to west to explore this isolated Himalayan kingdom in the clouds. A place where magic still rules everyday life, where Buddhist astrologers make divinations about who to marry, the best time to travel to another village, when to plant, when to harvest, and any number of daily events and decisions that most of us would take for granted. A land where Gross National Happiness is embedded in the constitution. This is the land of the Thunder Dragon where politics and religion are tightly braided together.
