Bible History

A monumental journey through the history, culture, and divine narrative of the Old Testament. In Bible History: Old Testament, renowned scholar Alfred Edersheim provides an exhaustive, deeply rewarding survey of the sacred Scriptures, tracing God’s covenant dealings with humanity from the creation of the world through the fall of Israel and Judah. Drawing on his deep expertise in biblical antiquities, Rabbinic literature, and ancient Near Eastern history, Edersheim illuminates the cultural and historical landscape surrounding every major event, figure, and prophecy. Originally published in seven comprehensive volumes, this unified masterwork brings the ancient world to life while maintaining a steadfast focus on the spiritual unity of the biblical narrative. Readers will explore: The World of the Patriarchs: From Creation and the Flood to the journeys of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Exodus and Wilderness Wanderings: The deliverance from Egypt, the giving of the Law at Sinai, and the tabernacle worship. The Conquest and the Judges: The settlement of Canaan, the era of spiritual testing, and the rise of Israel’s early leaders. The Monarchy and the Prophets: The reign of David and Solomon, the division of the kingdom, and the urgent calls to repentance before the Exile. Masterfully blending meticulous historical detail with profound reverence, Edersheim demonstrates how every dispensation points steadily toward the fulfillment of divine promise. Bible History: Old Testament stands as an indispensable reference work for pastors, Bible teachers, academic scholars, and serious students of the Bible.
