3.75 stars—BITE ME is the first instalment and novella in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult VAMPIRE WARDENS RESURRECTION paranormal romance series- a spin off from the author’s Vampire Wardens series. This is thirty-two year old, author Ivy Miller, and vampire warden Eli Channing’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Ivy and Eli) BITE ME follows approximately one-hundred years after Eli Channing and his wife Ivy were attacked by a vampire, leaving Eli, and his friends Rocco and Cam fighting for his lives, and Eli’s wife dead. Fast forward to present day Denver Colorado, and vampire warden Eli Channing bumps into a woman named Ivy, a woman whose connection to Eli goes more than skin deep. A werewolf is on the loose in Denver, and our heroine has been targeted in a game of betrayal and revenge.
Eli Channing is forbidden to reveal the truth to our story line heroine, and in this, Ivy must make the connection between her present and her past but with a ‘wild animal’ on the loose, Eli’s need to protect Ivy forces our couple together, ensuring Ivy’s connection to Eli is potent and strong.
We are introduced to fellow vampire warden, and Eli’s friend Cam, and Rocco, as well as warden in charge Marcus, and tech CEO Jacob Waller.
BITE ME is the introductory novella to Lisa Renee Jones’ VAMPIRE WARDENS RESURRECTION-a quick read; a fast paced tale that reveals some of the background as to Eli, Rocco and Cam’s vampire existence but barely scratches the surface or history of the wardens, a group of vampire sworn to protect the innocent. The premise is engaging; the characters are energetic; the romance is passionate as the attraction is palpable but has barely scratched the surface. BITE ME ends on a bit of cliff hanger.
