Bitter Sugar tells of a young man Chinese lady who dares to reach her American dream.
Cora leaves her hometown in China to try to her luck in America. She wants to experience a different culture and broaden her horizons. The idea of living on her own gives her much excitement, especially knowing that she is making a huge leap in life.
When Cora arrives in America, reality starts to set in. She begins to understand that her American dream is not like what she has imagined. She works hard to overcome the language barrier while trying to fit into the western culture. She has a long road ahead of her and she is more than ready to enjoy the ride.
