Publisher Description
Jack O'Donnell is a living legend—
And the most haunted man I've ever met.
I came to LA for the story. An exclusive interview with the elusive, infuriating, wickedly sexy rockstar. The one that could make my career.
He slams the door in my face.
Then chaos hits. And I find myself in a coffee shop, sitting across from a man who once ruled the world with a guitar in his hand and destruction in his wake.
Jack O'Donnell is raw. Unfiltered. A mess of contradictions wrapped in leather and regret.
Every word is a challenge.
Every glance, a dare.
But the more he reveals, the harder it is to look away.
Because beneath the headlines is a man still haunted by the past.
By a love that shattered him. By a heartbreak he never recovered from.
And when it's time for me to go home—
Will either of us be ready to let go?

An Engaging Story
“To be known was to trust. To trust was to be vulnerable. To be vulnerable, you had to feel safe. He had never truly felt safe in his life.”
Erin Langford is a journalist whose current assignment is to interview Jack O'Donnell about his and experience as a rockstar musician and well let's just say things don't go well at first. But then tragedy strikes in Jack's world and then Erin finds herself being the one there for him in his difficult time and getting some insight into the story about his past, the rise and fall of his band, Mogo and his various complicated relationships. This book is well written and despite it being written from separate timelines, the story flows well.
Going into this book, I expected a great albeit toxic romance between Jack and Mia given the book's synopsis, however, I didn't feel the great love story at all. *Spoiler ahead* I think this disconnect can be attributed to Mia's character not having a PoV. Everything we know about Mia, we are told from Jack's PoV. For instance when Jack makes the decision to move to L.A. after standing up to his abusive dad for the first time and Mia says she's going with him and gives a speech about her parents not understanding her, this is the first time we the readers are hearing of this, infact up till this point in the book, what we know of Mia so far is that she writes in Jack's journal. Compared to what we know about Jack at this point in the story, it is easier to connect to and root for him. And this pattern repeats throughout the book, you come out knowing more about Amber and even Erin than Mia. *Spoiler ends*
Overall, this is a good book with an interesting story with relatable characters that leave you wanting more.
