Wally El Amin, datacomber, is a professional of the surveillance age. He deals in secrets-- personal, professional, digital, scatological. Even your thoughts are his for the taking. Wally undermines governments and destroys careers, but something strange happens when he's hired by an advertising executive to ruin the nascent reputation of budding west-Texas politician, George Morales.

Because... Morales is a man who won't be ruined. The mayoral candidate of Jobs, Texas, refuses to think incorrect thoughts. He refuses to feel incorrect feelings. Morales is seemingly infallible-- like no other contract the datacomber has ever worked. And, as Wally learns more about his subject's tortured past, broader phenomena emerge. An unidentifiable beast stalks the city of Jobs. A homeless psychotic transmits God's word through social media. A nomadic sect begins gathering at a stronghold in the desert.
