Publisher Description

Candide is the illegitimate nephew of a German baron. He lives in the baron’s castle, educated by the tutor Pangloss. Candide falls in love with Cunégonde, the baron’s young daughter. She also loves him. One day, the baron accidentally sees them kissing and banished him from the castle. Soon after his leaving, Candide is recruited into the army of the Bulgars. After being a witness of a terrifying battle, he escapes and travels to Holland.

Upon his arrival in Holland, he is accepted by the Anabaptist named Jacques. Soon, Candide runs into a deformed beggar, whom he didn’t recognise at first, but then he saw that the beggar was Pangloss. Pangloss tells Candide that he has contracted syphilis and he tells him that the Baron’s family is killed by the Bulgars.

Then, the three men go to Lisbon. Unfortunately, before their arrival, their boat runs into a storm, due to which Jacques drowns. When, finally, Pangloss and Candide arrive in Lisbon, seeing that an earthquake has destroyed the entire city. Son, Pangloss is hanged, accused of being a heretic and Candide is wiped because he listened to Pangloss’ philosophy.

But, what Candide doesn’t know is that his life is about to change completely.

Follow the adventures of Candide, and be prepared to see things we never see a lot of surprises and action.
