Copy and Paste
The story starts off decently enough, but as soon as the conflict gets established the story becomes hard to swallow.
Perhaps it's because I just tried to read a Jynx Wolfe story that's basically the exact same, complete with 8 insurgents attacking the compound and a couple die and the rest escape, but this book is hard to swallow.
It's not just that the two books are far too similar for comfort, but both books also suffer the same issues like flat character development, none of the characters have their own personal voice (read aligned by any character and you can't guess who it is because they all sound the same.
And after doing some searching on the Internet to find out more about the author, all I found is a multitude of books released in a short period of time, and no social media presence. No author website. Absolutely zero promotion of their books.
Which makes me wonder which LLM wrote the book?
Of course, this is just conjecture based off of the writing style, the plot inconsistencies, the random "important" characters that show up out of nowhere, and the characters that just don't seem to understand how to human, and the lack of the online existence of the author.
Of course, it's not proof, but it's not a good look either.
