Celtic Myth and Legend

Celtic Myth and Legend by Charles Squire was first published in 1905, and was initally published as 'The Mythology of the British Islands'. In the book, Squire explores the school of thought that mythology in Britain can be traced to ancient Pagan myths, explaining how the Celtic fairy faith is a survival of the worship of ancient gods and goddesses. Squire takes us through the Gaelic gods and their stories, and the British gods and their stories, and through the chronologies of Irish invasions, the Welsh tales, and the age of Arthur, the reader can see similar names and elements that crop up time and time again. The book also includes a glossary of dozens of Irish and Welsh words and phrases with phonetic transcriptions.
