Opens with glaring historical inaccuracies - DNF
The story opens in 872AD and is citing north eastern England and the British (Britannia, yes, but that is not British), neither of which existed remotely close to that time period.
After Romans left, the area was settled and controlled by anglo-saxons from the Germanic areas to the east, bringing the Britannic language.
After, the area was conquered by the Normans, bringing primarily French with them.
Then, and only after did the southern island become known as the Kingdom of England
There was no capitalized England prior to at least 927, and English in reference to nationality would not evolve as a commonplace term for a few more centuries.
I was really excited about the story because it sounded cool, but I can't trust an author who couldn't even bother with 10 minutes on the Wikipedia page to learn the history of the isles.
I gave three stars because I don't think that my preference of remotely historical accuracy and unwillingness to continue reading after one paragraph deserves to tank an authors rating with a single star.

Loved Celtic Viking so much I couldn't put the book or in this case tablet down, Lexy Timms is a writing force to be reckoned with
