Nine-year-old Charlie Sands, an orphan, lives in a small Ontario town with his beautiful but odd Aunt Ellie and his loyal dog, Sam. A curious and cheerful boy, Charlie is a common sight around town, running errands for the baker, the butcher, and the grocer in exchange for food for himself and his aunt. But Charlie is lonely until he makes two new friends, Sarah and Boney…and life takes an interesting turn when he meets a remarkable woman named Crow, who opens a world he had never known was there.
