Publisher Description
Chummy the Cloud and Ella the Eagle is another story in the Featherwood Forest Series. Featherwood Forest stands next to the Village of Ticklefield. Up above Featherwood Forest is the Rainbow Arches Nursery School. There, Mrs. Cloudburst, the energetic teacher, ensures that all her little Clouds appreciate that everything in the sky and everything on the earth are connected. In order for her little Cloud students to learn this valuable lesson, she assigns a very special homework each day. At the end of the school day, she picks one of her little Cloud students and asks them to help someone on the earth as they travel home from school. This is always a very valuable assignment. In this story we find out how Ella the Eagle looses her home. Her plight symbolizses the environmental displacement of animals and the subsequent challenge they face. In Featherwood Forest, however, Ella the Eagle finds refuge after her long and weary journey. She finds a welcome in Featherwood Forest only because a little Cloud was attentive on her way home from the Rainbow Arches Nursery School. Witty the wise owl oversees all that happens in Featherwood Forest and is very pleased at how all the little animals there come together and work hard to give Ella the Eagle the sense of welcome and belonging she was searching for.
