City Gears up for Budget Crunch

On Oct. 12 the City of Wenatchee will head into one of its most difficult budgetary crunches in recent memory--initial estimates for the 2011 budget are forecasting a $1.4 million shortfall--city staffers will be setting up shop in a new location downtown to get ideas from the public on how to help ease the bleeding. It's an effort called "Know Your City" In Essence, it's a business storefront in the historic Morris Building that city staff, council members, and other stakeholders plan to operate in Order to answer questions, receive comments and offer information to the general public about the city's budget situation.
