Samuel Richardson (1689 – 1761) was an English writer, considered one of the most influential writers of the 18-th century. Richardson's father wanted him to become a clergyman didn't have an opportunity to pay for the education so the young Samuel choose a profession to his liking and became a printer – the career that helped to reveal his writing abilities.


'Clarissa, or, the History of a Young Lady' is an epistolary novel by Samuel Richardson which is considered to be his literary masterpiece. It tells us about a young lady Clarissa Harlowe whose family recently has become a part of the upper-class.
