Color Meditations
wu wei watercolors
Publisher Description
The world is so full of color that we often look past its beauty and meaning basically filtering it out as superfluous data. Just how black was the sky last night? What color was the water, blue or green? Or, was it actually a shade of brown?
Color Meditations explores our world of color through the medium of watercolor using a limited palette and simple watercolor techniques like washes, layering, and texturing.
This series of 28 paintings represents a modest study of color on both hot and cold press watercolor blocks using Grumbracher watercolor pan sets.
All paintings are painted in a spontaneous style with the main intent of exploring color through water and paint. In this fashion, the art becomes a practice of wu wei, the Daoist principle of “nonaction.”
