Learning the lessons of WWII Anti-insurgency

In mid-1945, the Allies could see the end of the war in Europe approaching quickly. And, with Germany's bitter resistance continuing it was clear that they would probably have to deal with some armed opposition from resistance groups even after the end of normal combat and or a Nazi surrender. 


This small manual was quickly put together in such anticipation of US troops having to play an anti-insurgency role against such hard-core Nazi elements. It was meant to be a quick primer on various tactical methods used by resistance groups against the occupying Nazis and the Nazi countermeasures against them. By presenting these specific 'after action reports' and evaluating countermeasure effectiveness it was thought this could be helpful to troops and leaders of the Allied forces occupying the now falling Germany.


Covered topics include:

Ambushes/raids/vehicle sabotage/ railroad attacks/ Communications & phone line sabotage/bombings etc. Experiences of the Germans in combatting guerrilla movements in France, Poland, Italy, Yugoslavia and Russia are noted in detail. And, an appendix entry on the German 'Werewolf' forces is also included.
