Bouncing up and down in excitement the other cheerleaders and I watched as our star point guard, Drake jumped and caught a rebound that had tipped off of the fingers of the opposing center and bounced into his outstretched hands. Wide open, he began running with the ball to the opposing goal, intent on scoring. Standing next to me, the only black member of our cheerleading squad, Takola, was screaming and yelling her encouragement. When she finally quit screaming, she leaned close to me and conspiratorially and very softly said in my ear, “I wish I could take him out for a private celebration to reward him for that game. I hear he is really good in bed!” Takola had an incredibly sexy voice, sounding very small and almost squeaky in a way, but her accent made it very exotic.
