Congolese Stories

Congo has a rich and diverse variety of folk tales and from generation to generation various tales, legends, myths and fables have been passed on.

Throughout these stories listeners experience the storyteller’s depictions of human failing and virtue, religious representations and the surrounding nature. The storyteller turns animals, or objects such as a piece of pottery, into amusing and significant representations of human frailty and morality.. These tales are not only beneficial to youngsters, but to adults, too.
