Haunted by his misfortune as a vice cop in Baltimore, chief inspector Paul Anker Larsson sits behind a desk in Oslo starving for an opportunity to reviving his once meteoric career. The perfect opportunity is presented to him when the Press force a new investigation into the old disappearance of Thai bride Nan Hansen. Paul’s investigation starts in his hometown of Tønsberg where he slowly starts to uncover evidence of something much more sinister than a simple missing persons case. The chief inspector has to battle prejudice, nepotism, and his own personal ghost to get at who or what is stealing away the young women of this deceptively peaceful seaside town.
