The stakes are higher than ever for Alex Cross as he faces his most personal enemy yet: a criminal who threatens his family.
Detective Alex Cross is a family man at heart: nothing matters more to him than his children, his grandmother, and his wife Bree. His love of his family is his anchor, and gives him the strength to confront evil in his work. One man knows this deeply, and uses Alex's strength as a weapon against him in the most unsettling and unexpected novel of James Patterson's career.
When the ones Cross loves are in danger, he will do anything to protect them. But if he does anything to protect them, they will die.
Cross My Heart is the most powerful Alex Cross novel ever, propelled by the ever-ingenious mind of James Patterson, the world's #1 bestselling writer.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In his 21st Alex Cross novel, thriller king James Patterson pits his DC police detective against a psychotic nihilist with two goals: to destroy Cross and commit the perfect crime. And by targeting Cross’s family, this sociopath aims to murder two birds with one stone. As always, Patterson’s hard-boiled prose keeps the tension up, but he also throws in plenty to ponder regarding the ongoing battle between human nature and morality. Cross My Heart is a classic thriller with a modern twist, incorporating contemporary TV references and virtual reality.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Narrators Boatman and Wopat bring the world of detective Alex Cross to life in this audio edition of Patterson's latest. In this adventure, Cross is not only balancing two cases, but also facing a deadly personal crisis. Pulled into the investigation of a string of attacks on massage parlors, Cross is also being stalked by a deranged killer bent on destroying the one thing Cross holds dear: his family. Boatman presents Cross's first-person narration with a pure, honest familiarity that perfectly fits the character and keeps the listener hooked as the novel clips forward. He is most effective in showing the vulnerable side of Cross, as this book drags the usually cool detective through an emotional wringer leaving him a shattered version of his former self. Wopat's cold, dark interpretation of the deranged killer out to destroy Cross's life is a perfect counterpoint to Boatman's sensitive portrayal of Patterson's most famous creation. Together they keep the suspense high in a cat-and-mouse game that will keep listeners on the edge of their seats. A Little, Brown hardcover.

Cross my heart
Hate when you don't know up front that it's a 2
Book set.. At least have the second book ready.
Ending sucked
Where's the ending?
I would not bother reading this until part 2 comes out. With very little warning you are left hanging. While I'm sure it's lucrative for the author and publisher to do things this way I'm not sure that I will ever bother reading another of his books as it shows little respect for the reader.
Where's the Ending?!!!!
I'm a big James Patterson fan, have read most of his books. This book is another stay-up-all-night page-turner, but the ending is HORRIBLE! Almost non-existent. It's basically "to be continued." And the next book isn't even released yet. I paid good money for this book, and I feel cheated that there was no ending!
