Publisher Description
This book aims to fill a common need for practical, up-to-date information required to cruise the New South Wales coast. It will be useful to those who usually passage quickly up the coast, only stopping to refuel, and also the cruiser with more time on their hands who wants to work their way along the coast. For those already familiar with the coast, the book pulls together a litany of information from diverse sources, all arranged consistently.
Part I, Things to Know Before You Go, provides extensive reference information on New South Wales cruising, such as skills and experience, recommended apps, charts and books, equipping the yacht for cruising, cruising logistics, climate and weather systems, marine hazards, marine parks and aquatic reserves and rules for boating in NSW and on its waterways.
Part II, Guide to the NSW Coasts, is a coastal cruising guide for yachts cruising the New South Wales coast. Each of the 10 coasts, from the Sapphire Coast to the Far North Coast, plus Lord Howe Island, is covered in detail, including passage plans, climate, wind and wave averages, marinas, courtesy moorings, anchorages, public wharves and quick reference information. It features chartlets and satellite photos to explain bar entrances, moorings and anchorages.
There are links to wind, wave, current and tide forecasts along with live bar and wave conditions from the many cameras and wave rider buoys along the coast.
In the eBook version, there are many clickable external links. Links to GPX files are provided for passages and points of interest. This format is compatible with Navionics, C-Map, recent chart plotters and many other navigation apps.
