Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic is the first book in the Dowser series, which is set in the same universe as the Oracle, Reconstructionist, Amplifier, Archivist, and Misfits of the Adept Universe series. While it is not necessary to read all the series, in order to avoid spoilers the ideal reading order of the Adept Universe begins with Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic (Dowser 1).

Love this world and the characters
The immediate drop into a mixed up world of magic and mundane grabbed me.
Though I have to admit my pocketbook has taken a hit trying out all the different single source dark chocolate bars available 😋

This was an interesting read. I enjoyed it and may pick up the second, but I found it very distracting when product placement was dropped in the book. The brand names seemed really out of place and unnecessary.
