Publisher Description
A series of short stories and poems inspired by the writers early childhood in Ghana - just before independence.
“People often ask me if I remember anything of my childhood in Ghana. I have always had a good visual memory, but I also remember sounds, tastes and smells – insects chirruping in the bush , fresh mangos, wet earth after the rain, the smell of marigolds. Working on the stories evoked and crystallised very vivid pictures, images and memories which had been absorbed and laid down in my child’s mind over 55 years ago. Writing the book revealed to me the complexity and depth of childhood memories we all carry within us, which can be revisited and explored and shared. Part of that need to share is, I think, the desire to leave some kind of legacy for others, especially for my children and many grandchildren.”
