This book pulled me in pretty much from the very beginning
This book pulled me in pretty much from the very beginning and held me tight until the final words. I feel that the story crosses several different genres, pulling in elements of romance, suspense, women’s fiction, literary fiction, family sagas, the Lifestyle, and even a little bit of humor. And it did so in a way that blended them all together seamlessly. I loved Dancy and Pake. Sure, Pake’s a growly take-charge alpha, but Dancy’s no shrinking violet and she was well prepared to tell him when he was acting like a jerk. Through the whole book Dancy has backbone and sarcasm and she doesn’t change once she has an alpha at her side who wants to call all the shots. There’s lots of character development and growth in this leading couple, and I think that might have held even more of my attention than the mysteries they were dealing with. The suspense kept me riveted, but I needed to know if and how this pair would make a go of it. I’m hoping that there are (or will be) books about Pake’s brothers that I can get my hands on.
