Hi, I'm Lizzie. I've just done something spectacularly stupid.
I've bought a house that's one strong wind away from being condemned. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I don't particularly like getting my hands dirty. And — I'll be honest with you — the plan wasn't really thought through. The cat came with the house. The house was an impulse decision. It also came with a nosy neighbour and more opinions than I knew what to do with.
My boyfriend thinks I need improvement. My sister thinks I need a bulldozer. My eighty-two-year-old grandma thinks I need Riley.
Grandma Mabel is not wrong.
Riley is the handyman. He's 6'3" with blue eyes and eyelashes I honestly resent, and every time he walks into a room my brain checks out completely. Not that it matters. I have a perfectly good boyfriend. Scott is perfectly fine. Everything is perfectly fine.
Then Riley pulls up a loose floorboard in the attic and finds a diamond engagement ring, a bundle of love letters tied in faded ribbon, and a decades-old secret buried in the walls by a woman who never got to live her love story — and someone who made sure of it.
Now I need to know who did this. I need to know why. And I need to find whoever it was before they realise I'm looking.
Because the man with the scarred face in the black sedan parked outside my house? He's been there since the day I moved in.
And I'm starting to think he already knows I found the ring.
I really should have just bought an apartment.

Good read
Interesting
The story itself is Intriguing and definitely captivated me but I’m trying to figure out why a dog getting a handjob was detailed but no human interactions were. Im quite distraught actually having to read about the dog getting off, also other readers please note there is a lot of Christianity and religious talk in this book which I am personally not a fan of and would have liked to know beforehand. Didn’t really fit with the spicy vibe this book advertised having, as well as the complete lack of spice at all. Overall I’m glad I only spent 99¢ to read it, it kept me occupied, but I won’t be continuing with the series.
