Lithuania, 1941. Vincentas, a photographer, makes a Faustian pact with an SS officer: in exchange for his safety and that of his Jewish lover, Judita, he will document the mass killings of Jews. As Vincentas descends into this horrifying work, Judita, disgusted by the pact, returns to her husband, surrendering herself to the ghetto, leaving Vincentas trapped and alone.
