This book questions the common belief that architecture, in its little more than five-thousand years of history, has undergone a gradual evolutionary process as outcome of a men’s deliberate desire of progress. On the contrary, the book supports the deterministic hypothesis of evolution, intended as an inevitable product of a series of occasional events that are selected on the basis of accidental contingencies.
