Government has melted into globalism. Fights for dominion over the remaining natural resources of a dying planet have shaped the population into a loose class system obsessed with creating the ultimate human-animal. Tensions between rival population groups have grown violent.

Karine is young and entering the adult phase of her banal social obligations. Karine finds herself stuck between the world she understands and the forbidden world she doesn't. After her grandparent's traditional end of life ceremony, Karine questions everything about her rule-bound society. Outcasts show her a different way to live, but Karine must choose which life she wants and which man she wants to spend it with. A meteor heading for the Pacific rim threatens to strike an already battered land mass. If Karine makes the wrong choice it could be her last.
