David is one of the better known Biblical characters, due especially to his defeat of the giant Goliath, which has become a motif for many stories of underdogs winning over formidable foes; and also due to David committing adultery with Bathsheba, which led to the murder of her husband. David’s life teaches us that God does not hide the ugly parts of our lives, while accomplishing His purposes in spite of our failings!
