For many long years, Atlee Pine was tormented by uncertainty after her twin sister, Mercy, was abducted at the age of six and never seen again. Now, just as Atlee is pressured to end her investigation into Mercy's disappearance, she finally gets her most promising breakthrough yet: the identity of her sister's kidnapper, Ito Vincenzo.
With time running out, Atlee and her assistant Carol Blum race to Vincenzo's last known location in Trenton, New Jersey—and unknowingly stumble straight into John Puller's case, blowing his arrest during a drug ring investigation involving a military installation.
Stunningly, Pine and Puller's joint investigation uncovers a connection between Vincenzo's family and a breathtaking scheme that strikes at the very heart of global democracy. Peeling back the layers of deceit, lies and cover-ups, Atlee finally discovers the truth about what happened to Mercy. And that truth will shock Pine to her very core.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
There’s a running through line in all of David Baldacci’s thrillers about young FBI agent Atlee Pine—she’s determined to find the assailant who snatched her twin sister when she was six years old. Atlee has been haunted by the abduction all her life, and in the third book of the series, she finally learns the kidnapper’s identity. Unfortunately, her mission collides with a drug bust on a military installation, throwing Pine into the orbit of veteran CID officer John Puller, the star of another Baldacci series. Before long, the odd couple are stumbling straight into a global conspiracy. Every chapter ends in a twist, shocker, or cliff-hanger that made us rush to turn the page. Can Atlee Pine handle the immense levels of corruption she discovers along her path? And if so…will it lead to her sister?

Fantastic book
This is a cliff hanger. You cannot put the book down. I have enjoyed this book immensely. I cannot wait to read a follow up to this book. Does Atlee Pine find her sister? David Baldacci has written another great book.
Great multiple plots
This book had an amazing ability to incorporate almost real life political criminal activity (Epstein, Trump) and the terrifying story of child kidnapping.
