Dead End Doors

Gerry Freeman never felt like she fit in. After raising a family in a smug little Canadian town, she was divorced from her husband, estranged from her kids, limping through a tired old high school romance, disillusioned by modern feminism and thoroughly dissatisfied with her life. She had never been able to detach herself from the scandalous reputation of her mother, the town weirdo who had one day inexplicably left town, riding her bicycle down Main Street, totally naked, never to be seen again. Now, thirty years, later Gerry is driven to solve the mystery of her mother's fate. Her quest takes Gerry across Canada from the remote Arctic to the squalid world of Vancouver's heroin addicts to rural Mexico. Along the way she finds tragedy, joy, romance and murder.
