Author Victoria Elder learned that, Forgiveness is the key to freedom At some point we have to let it go. Stop giving the power to the ones who hurt us. We do not wish to become as they were. Yes it hurts. Over and over. But you take back that power. Trust in a power greater than yourself. The drugs sex and alcohol is temporary. It will and can change you if you let it. You won't forget but you may forgive. Be freed . . . Experiencing rape and incest at a young age caused me to become a victim of society. Being able to identify later in life with the acts of a rapist. I became an alcoholic at fifteen and experienced all kinds of drugs. But God saw fit to forgive me and change my life. Today I'm married, I have three children and five grandchildren. That they may find freedom. Today I am a writer and a poet. This is how I give of myself. Now I'm free.
