All the stuff is pure gold
First, we get Batman’s great first appearance in Detective Comics #27. Then we get all the other tales from the New 52 version of that same title. The first is written by Brad Meltzer and showcases the original story as an analogue for the origin of Joker. Brad Meltzer must’ve been very intelligent, because the comparisons between Joker and Albert Stryker ARE there… The next one, called 27, is more or less better. It focuses on an old, retired Batman, who encourages a clone of himself to fight crime in the far future. All that stuff was very cool, and the dialogue was absolutely amazing. Then we get a brief sneak peek of Chip Kidd’s fusion of the two Detective Comics 27’s stories. How he merges Bob Kane’s crappy art with Brad Meltzer’s great story is pure greatness. Get this book!
