Djembe Construction "A Comprehensive Guide"
The author of has put a lot time and effort into this book and quite frankly there isn't anything else like it available to the drumming community. This is clear, concise and complete information presented in a professional and friendly manner.
The words, diagrams, pictures and videos all sync together in a way that is easy to follow and understand. The videos in particular are very good showing exactly what is being discussed without any shake or loss of focus.
Some examples of ideas in the book:he explains an easy way to cut the rubber for your foot; how to tell if the rings are the proper size; how to use an alternate weave pattern so the rope doesn't flip back after pulling a diamond; how sitting on the floor with the djembe between your legs is a very good way to pull diamonds that stay straight; how to tie a crown knot without the knot showing; how to prevent the rings from dropping unevenly; and one of favourite ideas - cut the unmeltable core from the end of the rope so you can melt the casing and get a neat finish.
There is a lot of interesting and insightful information in this book and it answered all my questions but one. So I decided to contact the author to see if I could get an answer. Within two hours he responded with the info I needed!
I fully recommend this book to anyone wishing to learn about or increase their knowledge about djembes.
