Doctor Thorne Doctor Thorne

Publisher Description

Doctor Thorne (1858) by Anthony Trollope is one of the charming series of loosely connected novels set in Barsetshire. While the good Dr. Thomas Thorne is at the heart of the novel, it is the romantic story of his niece Mary Thorne and Frank Gresham -- a story with the playful sensibility of Jane Austen and the heartwarming cheer of Dickens.

One of the best!

The third of the people and their doings in the clerical township of Barchester is among the best of the series containing six novels! It makes you deliciously happy one minute and ready to throw it the next. As the battle between marrying for love and a family's obsessive but necessary desire of their heir to marry for money to save their home, high rank and pure blood from the taint of a woman of no wealth, no title and of low birth. But I suggest you start with the first of the series 'The Warden' to get you started. You won't be disappointed from the first novel to the last! Trust me and happy reading!
