After seven years inside the dreams, he wakes to discover he's become a Waker — one of the three percent who can never dream again. No more escape. No more bliss. Only a gray, empty, boring world he knows all too well.

Wakers don't handle it well. Some join the violent Wreckers, determined to tear down the Government that controls the dream machines. Others drown themselves in drugs, sex, or anything that numbs the loss.

Sam is caught between both paths — until he meets the new President of a reborn America and begins a relationship that will test him to his core. The choice he makes could shape not only his future but that of a new nation struggling to be born.
