Publisher Description

Introduction There has been a prolonged discussion on the use of technology as cognitive tools for teaching and learning. Jonassen and Reeves (1996) characterized cognitive tools as "technologies that enhance the cognitive powers of human beings during thinking, problem solving, and learning" (p.693). Technology holds great potential for students to develop deeper knowledge and execute reflective thoughts by the specific tasks that they otherwise will not have access to. Technology also provides capabilities to complement students' learning styles and multiple intelligences.
