Everyday Energy

Everyday Energy is part of the Smithsonian Science Stories Literacy Series. Everyday Energy features short stories and is aligned to grade 4 standards with a focus on science and engineering. In Everyday Energy, students will read about the ways people use energy in homes, how power plants work, and natural resources used for energy. They will also read about how people solve problems related to making homes energy efficient. 



Everyday Energy includes the following features: 


- Stories that focus on the systems that bring us energy 

- Stories that highlight science and engineering careers 

- Incorporation of objects from Smithsonian collections, including historical examples of home lighting devices from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum
