F is for Fiction is a collection of essays and articles about naive determination, chatting with important people in often awkwardly improvised ways and learning to write, among varied remembrances. Herein, memoirist Emily Skinner also provides some answers to questions readers and writers alike have long been asking her about her mentor Harry Whittington. His fans often seek her for stories, a connection to his estate for film rights, as well as tips on how Whittington wrote. Skinner interviewed the pulp legend in 1981 and they became friends. In 1989, Whittington gave her what would be a novel-writing crash course weeks before he died.
