Sometimes love requires a leap of faith…
Taylor Hale’s barely had time to adjust to the new world she’s living in, one filled with supernatural mysteries. Not that she’s complaining—as long as she’s with the love of her life, James Champlain, she can face anything.
But the island of Dawnhaven is getting even more dangerous.
Lines have been crossed. Vows have been broken. Reparations must be made.
James has only two goals: to keep Taylor safe and to protect the balance. There’s an uneasy truce with the local shifters, but he knows it’s only a matter of time before the longstanding grudge erupts into violence. James will stop at nothing to protect the woman he loves. No matter what the cost…

Great Series
I really enjoyed the series. You can see the Twilight and Vampire diaries similarities in the plot/story line.
Its just different enough to make it good.
I would love to know when book 4 is coming out. Its been almost 2 years now since book 3 came out it looks like
Some Thoughts and criticism
1- in the first and beginning of the second book, there was emphasis by James of how bad his brother was,, but were was the bad actually? If he was already doing much better than why did he need some kind of babysitting from James and Taylor? Missed opportunity on not making him some kind of Evil Vampire antagonist, that would have been excellent. All he does is guard the island, play uno and crack flirty jokes from time to time, he was so not important to the plot.
2- James had admitted that the history of Vampires and shifters seemed like the one of Native Americans and European colonizers, then why does he proceed to kick out the native shifters, to please himself..? That’s weird.
(Also it would’ve been nice of Taylor to consider the Shifter perspective and maybe stay in their side for sometime through Mali.)
3- when Taylor said something along the lines of « When I’m with James all I can think of is how much I love him » I realized how toxic their relationship is. He introduced her to this world and then when she wants implicates herself into the world HE introduced her to he most of the time doesn’t want to.
4- Taylor should’ve have other love interests.
I was thinking Luke, considering the fact that he was flirting with her when they first met.
Or Mali, she wanted so bad to stay her friend, even after it had been found out that she was a shifter, she trusted Taylor even if she was with the other side.
Like I said before a Taylor intertwined between the vampire and shifter world would’ve been interesting.
5- The beef between the vampires and shifters is the most vanilla thing ever. No one gets killed. And if Luke did take it seriously he wouldn’t flirt with Mali.
6- Not erasing Amelia’s mind from when she discovered shifters would have been nice too. Imagine Amelia in the supernatural world.
7- James’s father was useless, in what way did he help? Offering an helicopter to Big Kyle? That’s it? And was James’s mother really a vampire supremacist? Why didn’t she go length to forbid James to date a human? If that’s not her thing then why didn’t she just stop claiming him as his son or something.
8- The supernatural worldbuilding. Does the balance exist everywhere in the world or is it just in MDI? If no, then why just in MDI, is it the center of the supernatural world?
If yes, then why isn’t there more supernaturals there considering the fact that it would be like the capital of the world or is it because there’s not a lot of them in the world. Or is the balance something made up by James like his mother said?
(I could go on but it’s too much.)
9- James is a about 200 years old vampire, he certainly does have many interesting stories to share, wonder why he doesn’t talk about them (probably because he doesn’t want Taylor to see him in a bad way) but still, she already trusts him and knows he’s not a perfect angel. He only shared one story and didn’t even go to details because he was insecure about Taylor’s opinion.
10- the scene of Taylor and Becky in the priece’s household was one of the bests moment in the series, Taylor mutilating herself made me weak, it’s the most graphic it could get.
11- 0 biting in a story with vampires and shifters?
12- in the second book, James said he was reconsidering transforming Taylor in a vampire, why didn’t they talk about that in the third book?
