False Trail

THE TRAIL IS FALSE. THE KILLER IS REAL. AND THE MARSHAL IS RUNNING OUT OF ROAD.

When Deputy Bowden is murdered and outlaw Parker Louis disappears into Indian Territory, U.S. Marshal Eldridge Sample gets one simple assignment:

Find him. Bring him back alive.

The trail leads west from Fort Smith and quickly turns dangerous.

Along the way, Eldridge arrests Cole Brennan, a hard-talking thief who knows Parker Louis—and may know exactly where the fugitive is headed. Chained to the marshal, Brennan becomes both prisoner and unwilling guide as the two men ride deep into a brutal frontier where every trail can be a trap.

Then they meet Ruby Calhoun, a mysterious widow who offers coffee, shelter, and a direction to follow.

It's the wrong direction.

Now Eldridge is chasing a murderer who knows how to disappear, a woman who knows how to lie, and a prisoner who keeps trying to escape.

Across the American frontier, the chase becomes a fight for survival.
