Publisher Description
The biography which follows is heart wrenching but true in every particular account of the life of a slave in the U.S.A . Slavery was abolished in 1865 therefore this account is prior to that date. The language of the slave has not at all times been strictly adhered to, as a half century of bondage unfitted him for literary work. Charles Ball was born in 1780 and was an African American slave in Maryland. He was taken away from his wife and children in 1805 and sold to a cotton planter in South Carolina. He escaped several times but was recaptured, with the help of a lawyer Isaac Fisher he wrote his biography.
